Marvel
The first trailer for Black Widow is finally out and many fans are hungry for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So while we wait for the next Marvel installments after Endgame, make sure you check out these details you may have missed from the new Black Widow trailer.
1. A reintroduction to Natasha
Marvel
Some of you might be wondering why Natasha has so many different hairstyles in the first 20- seconds of the trailer. Well don’t worry, she’s not stuck in some kind of alternate hair universe, those are clips from previous Avengers movies to reintroduce the audience to Natasha.
2. A big bang in Budapest
Marvel
The opening shot of the trailer shows some beautiful old European architecture, which could only belong to the city of Budapest. Fans have often heard Natasha discuss Budapest in previous Marvel movies and especially with her fellow Avenger Hawkeye. It is important to note, however, that the S.H.I.E.L.D mission she is undertaking in the trailer appears to have taken place before the events of the first Avengers movie. Some fans had anticipated that this film would act as a prequel to the Avengers and show how Natasha came to be a member of the famous team. Instead, we see that this film is going to place later as Natasha is returning to the site of this first mission.
3. The train station is another shout to Hungary’s famous capital.
Marvel
In case you hadn’t spotted it, the train station in the trailer is Budapest’s famous Keleti train station. If you look closely you’ll even see a few Hungarian flags hanging.
4. General Thunderbolt Ross
Marvel
General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross is a recurring character in the MCU. First seen in The Incredible Hulk, Thunderbolt later appeared as the US Secretary of State in Captain America: Civil War as he tried to pass the Sokovia Accord to limit the actions of the Avengers. Thunderbolt was last seen in Avengers: Endgame.
5. The other Black Widow’s
Marvel
Yelena Belova and Melina Vostokoff both appear in the new movie as two other Black Widow agents and are portrayed by Florence Pugh and Rachel Weisz respectively. In the Comics, the character of Milena Vostkoff goes on to become the character Iron Maiden who is an enemy of Black Widow. Currently, fans are unsure if Vostokoff will follow this plotline, but what we do know, is that there are now multiple Black Widow’s who could potentially replace Natasha post Endgame.
6. The introduction of Red Guardian
Marvel
David Harbour plays Alexei Shostakov better known as the Red Guardian, Captain America’s Russian counterpart. The trailer suggests that unlike his American friend, the Red Guardian has perhaps retired and fallen out of shape in his old age.
7. The Taskmaster
Marvel
The Taskmaster will be this movies’ main antagonist. If the comics are anything to go by, The Taskmaster has the ability to mimic anything after only seeing it once. This often leads to him absorbing the powers and skills of other Marvel superheroes like Shang-Chi who is set to appear in his own Marvel movie in 2021 and Daredevil.
The trailer suggests that the Taskmaster might have already picked up Hawkeye’s abilities perhaps from an earlier movie where they met in Budapest.
